News & Updates

  • Impact Fees -  The City of College Station adopted System-wide Impact fees for water, wastewater, and roadways in the latter part of 2016.  In accordance with Local Government Code, 5-year updates to the Land Use Assumptions, Capital Improvements Plan and Impact Fees were initiated and have been in progress since early part of the year.  The reports have been finalized and are posted below.  The studies calculate the maximum impact fee per service unit that can be set.  City Council will determine the collection rates to adopt.  The Impact Fee Advisory Committee’s consideration of the studies is scheduled for November 4th at 6:00pm in Council Chambers at City Hall.  The public hearing and consideration of the study updates by City Council is scheduled for their November 22nd meeting at 5:00 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall.

  • Please join Planning & Development Services staff for the Building and Development Breakfast to discuss various topics throughout the year. These meetings help provide us the opportunity to communicate what our staff are currently focusing on, as well as allowing you the opportunity to ask questions and to provide input on important topics.

Below is information regarding the next meeting: TBD
  • The proposed 10-year Comprehensive Plan Update is now available for your review. Visit The Next 10 website to view the proposed plan, watch short informational videos, participate virtually through online feedback maps and a survey, or view the meeting schedule to attend in-person at upcoming open houses and public hearings at various boards and City Council meetings. The Comprehensive Plan is the broadest public policy document a community can create – it is a city-wide vision that expresses the values of our community. The plan is a “living document” that is evaluated regularly and updated to reflect changing conditions, trends, and citizens’ aspirations.
  • We are excited to announce that the Planning and Development Services department has received the 2020 Richard R. Lillie Planning Excellence Award! This is the 14th year that College Station has received this designation. The award, which is granted by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association, distinguishes Texas municipalities with high levels of professional qualifications and training of planning staff and Planning and Zoning Commissioners. It recognizes communities that take a holistic approach to comprehensive planning and master planning efforts, and those that seek public engagement to create better plans and increase awareness of the importance of planning.
  • The FY2020 Annual Review covers the Comprehensive Plan and all associated master plans, programs, and small-area plans such as neighborhood and district plans, as well as amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance. These plans, programs, and ordinances collectively implement the Comprehensive Plan.
