COVID-19: What we are doing

GOVERNOR ABBOTT'S EXECUTIVE ORDER

Governor Greg Abbott's executive order issued on March 31, supersedes the shelter-in-place order previously issued by College Station Mayor Karl Mooney. The governor's order is set to expire April 30.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
  • All Texas schools are closed through at least May 4.
     
  • You should minimize social gathering and in-person contact with anyone you do not live with. 
      
  • Stay home unless accessing or engaging in essential services or activities, such as getting groceries or medication.
     
  • Essential services are those defined by the Texas Division of Emergency Management and in accordance with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
     
  • Do not visit nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance.
     
  • You may enjoy the outdoors as long as you follow CDC guidelines. 
     
  • You may support local restaurants only through drive-thru, pickup or delivery service.


CITY OFFICES & FACILITIES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.
ESSENTIAL SERVICES ARE OPERATING AS NORMAL. 

Closed facilities/offices include: City Hall, Community Services, dog parks, Fire Administration and Stations, Fun For All Playground & Splash Pad, Human Resources, Lick Creek Park & Nature Center, Lincoln Recreation Center, Meyer Senior & Community Center, Municipal Court, Police Department, Public Works Department, Southwood Community Center, Stephen C. Beachy Central Park Office, Utility Customer Services, Veterans Park & Athletic Complex, and W.A. Tarrow Splash Pad. Water fountains will be shut off and restroom facilities will be closed in all parks. 

During this closure, staff that is not involved in public health or epidemic response are working remotely. Due to this, the city is unable to access its records to respond to public information requests. During the period this notice is posted, the City of College Station is not considered to be open for business for purposes of the time deadlines under the Texas Public Information Act. The following shall apply:
   > A new request submitted will be deemed received on the city’s next open business day;
   > The processing of existing requests will be paused and will resume on the city’s next open business day.

       •  checks, money orders and cashier's checks can be dropped off into Municipal Court's drop box. Court is located at 300 Krenek Tap Road and the drop box is to the left of the front entrance. 

    There will be no account disconnects for nonpayment through at least the duration of the shelter-in-place order (April 7).

    To encourage takeout orders from Northgate District businesses, the City of College Station is offering free 30-minute parking throughout Northgate. This includes all metered spaces, the surface lot and the garage.
