The duties of the Historic Preservation Committee shall be to aid in the collection and preservation of the history of the City of College Station and its environs, and to provide for education of citizens on the history of this City. The committee shall also carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the City Council. The committee shall semi-annually submit a report to the City Council.

Meetings:
Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 4 p.m. in the College Station Conference Center, Room 103, located at 1300 George Bush Drive.

Membership & Terms:
The committee shall consist of nine members, and where practical may include representation from the Brazos County Historical Society, Texas A&M University and the College Station City Council. The term of office shall be for two years and the City Council shall appoint members on a staggered basis with five terms expiring in even-numbered years and four terms expiring in odd-numbered years. If a position becomes vacant before the expiration of the positition's term, the new appointee shall serve for the balance of the term of his or her predecessor. The City Council shall appoint a chairman during the annual appointment process. If a vacancy shall occur in the chairman position, the City Council shall appoint a replacement to serve as Chairman.
