Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed in Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and the enslaved were now free.

Enjoy an evening of praise through songs and dance signifying Juneteenth, a day of jubilee and freedom, at the Lincoln Recreation Center's W.A. Tarrow Pavilion.
