The City of College Station takes extreme pride in, and has a tremendous investment in, its existing infrastructure: streets, water and sanitary sewer lines, parks, and public buildings. The City owns numerous public facilities including neighborhood fire stations, libraries, recreation centers, police station and jail and court facilities. There are 286 miles of paved streets in the City; over 690 linear miles of water and sanitary sewer mains; and 1305.6 acres of dedicated park land for a total of 51 parks. The City is also proud to claim 75 acres designated and maintained as City cemetery property available to citizens. This includes our 56.5 acre Memorial Cemetery/Aggie Field of Honor. These capital assets significantly affect the character, growth patterns, and quality of life. Each year the City maintains, adds to and/or replaces these assets as required.

The Capital Projects Department is responsible for, and dedicated to, identifying of long-term initiatives that are supported by long term planning. The funding sources to design, build, maintain, and upgrade these capital improvements are diverse and are obtain through many sources such as: general obligation bonds, certificates of obligations, and utility revenue bonds.
